Johan Goris holds a master in electro-medical engineering and started a career as co-manager of the biomedical engineering department in a University Hospital in Brussels.
Since 1993 he has been an active member and later chairman of the technical committee BEC TC 62 (Electrical equipment in medical practice) reviewing EU & international electro-medical standards (IEC – ISO – CENELEC).
Johan is co-founder and former secretary of the Flemish organization of hospital instrumentation technicians (Vlaamse Vereniging van Ziekenhuis-instrumentatie-technici v.z.w.) as well as co-founder and former active member of “Chirurgie voor Rwanda v.z.w.” performing voluntary surgical missions in Ruanda, Kigali (1996) and Butare (1997).
After a short career as Notified Body Project leader for Product and System Certification of medical devices at SGS, he moved on to medical device distribution and SME management for high-care and homecare “High Frequency” respiratory medical equipment.
His strong interest in connected health, specifically from a patient centric & health data accuracy & quality value perspective, brought him to get involved as connected health policy officer for a patient organization.
He also advised on regulatory strategy for connected Health R&D projects and is governing a technical database of worldwide, more than 3500 different mobile health sensor based devices & their associated APP’s.
Today consultant with SGS for product certification & risk management of Medical and Consumer Health Devices and Software Products, including wearables and mhealth Apps.
