Marianne Ghyoot

Director Research & Innovation, BioWin

Marianne Ghyoot has over 30 years’ experience in the life sciences combining experiences in research environment first at universities, then at UCB, a pharmaceutical industry, and now at BioWin, the Health Competitiveness Cluster in Wallonia. She is currently Director Research and Innovation, advising and supporting entrepreneurs and researchers to build innovative collaborative projects. Over the years, she has developed a wide knowledge of the Walloon life sciences ecosystem with a great interest in innovation in medtech, radiopharmaceuticals and health data.

Marianne plays a coordination role in the frame of the Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) put in place in Wallonia, is member of regional initiatives focusing on medtech, health data and IA such as MedReSyst and MedTech Wallonia. She also supports BBMRI.be, the Belgian Biobanking Network and the King Baudouin Foundation initiative « Cancer Research for Patient Value ».

Marianne believes that medtech and health data have an important role to play in the evolution of healthcare. She also believes in joint efforts between the regions to further strenghten innovation.


Introduction of the Belgian MedTech scene

How many companies are active in the MedTech field in Belgium? What are their usual sizes? What kind of devices are they developing and working on?

Thanks to the collaboration of BioWin, Medvia and Lifetech.Brussels, we will get a clear overview of the current MedTech scene in the different regions of Belgium. Each cluster will present key figures of the industry and highlight main stakeholders, initiatives and achievements. 

We will also know more about the current clusters actions and their ambitious plans for the future to co-organize events and take common actions to make this industry flourish.
